Our ethics, service and forward thinking nature makes us second to none and hence why the introduction of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) on the 1st January 2013 had little impact on us, as the requirement for qualifications and to charge fees is something that has always formed the core of our professional business.
Many advisers in the ‘industry’ have either exited, plan to exit or have become 'Restricted Advisers’ as a result of the introduction of RDR but we continue to be Independent, meeting the regulator's requirements to use this designation. Whilst the company and each adviser has additional requirements to meet, in terms of knowledge, research and compliance, we feel that this is necessary so you know that we can access any solution in the market, which so many of our competitors cannot, and receive the best possible, unbiased and transparent advice.
Our advisers all meet the required standards and hold the required ‘Statement of Professional Standing’.
One of the unique aspects of our offering is that we have developed expertise in areas that do not require the involvement of financial products and in particular insurance company products.
We are able to offer an in-house advisory or discretionary investment management service, selecting asset allocations for clients that reflect their individual attitude to risk and then applying this to the selection of investments, relevant products, financial instruments or appropriate assets.
We are well experienced in advising on trusts, occupational pension schemes including trust-based self-administered pension schemes (SSASs) and self-invested pensions (SIPPs). We also provide investment related tax advice and specific advice on inheritance tax, capital gains tax and personal taxation. The reason for our strong position in this bespoke financial and tax planning area of expertise is that our company was founded in 1998 by Paul Taylor, our Managing Director. Paul is an experienced accountant who, having sold his accountancy practice some years earlier, saw an opportunity to provide something different in the financial advice sector – to provide solution-driven advice to clients, as opposed to a product, commission-led one.
Whilst working with a major financial services group, incorporating independent financial advisers, actuaries and investment portfolio managers, Paul acquired hands-on knowledge and experience in each of these specialist areas. He has been active in the drive to create a profession of advice rather than an industry of product selling and distribution.
Our practice has expanded since 1998 with a team of like-minded advisers and support staff who share the same beliefs and ethics as Paul. This is demonstrated by our client’s testimonials and the simple philosophy of ensuring the client is at the centre of everything and if you would not do it for yourself then do not do it for your client.
Integral to this approach is the offering of a fee-based service, even on products that can still bear commissions, and we do not charge initial fees for funds under management.
All advisers are salaried with no sales targets to ensure there is no compromise to the advice being given. This provides peace of mind that you are receiving advice that is in YOUR best interests and not related to sales of products.
